Wise PC Engineer

This takes "keeping your drives clean" to a whole new level. Instead of having lots of system utilities around, Wise PC Engineer takes a handful of system utilities and puts them in the same interface. It's a collection of Wise Cleaner's premium software. From registry cleaning to disc defrag, you can do it all from the same place.

The package is a bit larger than its brothers and sisters, which makes perfect sense as it consists of more than one tool. But 8 Mb isn't much, not even for a slow Internet connection. You just have to wait a bit more if that is the case, but it's definitely worth it. Although it's a bit larger in size, the installation process is still fast and you can run the program in no time.

The interface looks excellent and it's very well organized. Basically, you have three types of tools. Registry, disk and other. These are placed in three distinct columns for easy access. In the registry column, besides the obvious registry cleaner, you can also find a registry backup, defrag and a startup programs manager. The manager is your "stop doing that" stick that you can use on programs wich run automatically on system startup.

The second column features disk utilities. Here you can find a disk cleaner, a defrag tool, file recovery and a file/folder/drive scrub which will permanently delete data without rights to recovery. The final column, the "other" section, features some useful tools like memory optimizer which is a real help for your memory performance in case your PC has to run for a long time. More interesting, you can find a file/folder hider here. This will hide stuff the same way you do when you enter a file's properties, but you won't be able to see it if you set your explorer to "show hidden files and folders". The hider can be secured with a password, thus making a hidden file stay hidden.

The utilities themselves have their sleek looking interfaces. Nice, relaxing blue themed windows, neatly organized information, and large coloured buttons like the radar looking "scan", from the registry cleaner. That's about the size of the interface. You can easily get to buttons and you have absolutely no mile-long menus to get lost in. There are also two larger buttons on the top side of the window for a 1 click tune-up and a scheduler, but, in order to use them, you need to buy the pro edition of the software. It's nice that the free edition still lets you do critical cleanup and optimization with no restrictions, so thumbs up for Wise Cleaner. And the Pro edition is still a bargain with its extra features like application encryptor, file scrub and others.
